FAQs
Q: What constitutes a page?
A: According to the industry standard, one page of text denotes 250 words. This is based on the use of a 12-point standard font, double spacing, and 1-inch margins.
Q: In what format should I submit my work?
A: While I am certainly willing to cater to your needs, I request that each project be submitted as an electronic Microsoft® Word document. A typeset project submitted for proofreading may be formatted as a pdf; obviously, a manuscript already prepared for print will be single spaced. As such, the per-page price of proofreading a typeset pdf will be determined by dividing the number of words in the manuscript by 250.
Q: What if the extent of editing needed for my work falls somewhere in between the levels of service you provide?
A: If this happens to be the case for your project, I am willing to negotiate a price and level of editing that works best for you.
Q: Can you provide a sample edit of my work before I decide to utilize your services?
A: Absolutely. Please send me two to three pages of your manuscript, and I will provide a sample for you at no charge.
Q: How quickly will my edited work be returned to me?
A: The turnaround time for your project will depend on the extent of editing necessitated by your work, as well as the number of projects I am working on at that time. After I have looked at a sample of your work, I will quote a date by which I will be able to complete your project.
Q: What if I need my work to be edited before the quoted deadline?
A: A rush fee will be added to your bill if you need your work to be edited by a date earlier than the deadline that I quote for you. The amount of the rush fee will be determined by the deadline you are requesting. Generally, the fee will range from 20% to 50% of the total quoted price.
